Analytics & Measurement
Posts on analytics and measurement explain how to count search and AI visibility honestly: share of voice as a rate, sentiment that leaves out answers with no opinion, crawler logs, rank tracking and audits. The methods we use state their denominator and sample size, and treat a change inside the noise as no change.

How does Perplexity say share of voice is measured?
As a pie: your mentions over all tracked brands' mentions. That is one of the two formulas, and the posts in this topic argue for the other, a rate over all answers read, because the pie moves when you add or drop a competitor.
Question: how to measure share of voice in AI answers
Perplexity answered: AI share of voice (SOV) in AI answers measures how often your brand is mentioned versus competitors across a defined prompt set and engines. The core formula is: (your brand mentions) / (total brand mentions across all tracked brands) × 100. … Important nuances: define the denominator consistently (which brands to include), decide on weighting for first mentions, and whether to blend results across engines; these choices greatly affect the SOV value.
