> Connect Attensira to ChatGPT as a developer-mode app over OAuth, then ask which sources decide the answers in your category and where you are missing.

**In short:** In ChatGPT on the web, turn on Developer mode, create an app named Attensira with the URL https://mcp.attensira.com/mcp, choose OAuth and sign in. Turn it on in a chat from the + menu. ChatGPT can then read which sources decide the answers you want to be in, who is named instead of you, and what the crew has waiting.

## What it showed on attensira.com (read 2026-10-04)

Asked in ChatGPT: "Which sources decide the answer to "best GEO tools", and are we on any of them?"

Call: `deciding_sources prompt="best GEO tools" days=30`

Neither engine cites a page of ours for this question. ChatGPT builds it from roundup sites; Perplexity leans on roundups and Product Hunt.

| Row | Value | Note |
| --- | --- | --- |
| bestgeosoftware.com | 14.3% | of ChatGPT's citations, n = 57 answers |
| sitepoint.com | 8.6% | of ChatGPT's citations |
| geoptie.com | 9.8% | of Perplexity's citations, n = 57 answers |
| producthunt.com | 7.3% | of Perplexity's citations |

_A question we lose, and the pages that decide it._

## What can you ask ChatGPT once Attensira is on?

- Ask which pages and domains decide an answer you want to be in, ranked by influence, and whether you appear on any of them.
- Read mention and citation rates per engine, the prompts you lose and who is named instead, each with its sample size.
- See what the crew has waiting for you, and approve or decline it, when your ChatGPT surface allows write tools.
- Ask the crew for a win plan on one losing prompt, free, before deciding whether to spend credits on the work.

## How do I connect ChatGPT?

1. **Turn on Developer mode** In ChatGPT on the web, open Settings and turn on Developer mode. On Business and Enterprise, whether you can depends on what an admin allows.
2. **Create the app** Create an app, name it Attensira, enter https://mcp.attensira.com/mcp and choose OAuth. Attensira publishes standard OAuth discovery, so there is no client ID or secret to fill in.
3. **Sign in and allow** Sign in to Attensira and allow. The connection reaches every workspace your organisation owns; with several, name the one you mean in the chat.
4. **Turn it on in a chat** In a chat, open the + menu, choose Developer mode and turn Attensira on. Then ask it to call get_account, which lists your workspaces and the platforms really measured.

## Where does ChatGPT set the limits?

- Developer mode and custom MCP apps depend on your ChatGPT plan and, on Business and Enterprise, on what an admin allows. Attensira cannot change that from its side.
- Some ChatGPT surfaces restrict which tools an app may call. If write tools such as add_prompts are missing, that is a ChatGPT-side restriction, not a scope problem.
- A deciding source is ranked by its share of the citations behind one answer. It is not traffic, and being on it is not a guarantee of being named.

### What did ChatGPT show on our own workspace?

In 114 answers to "best GEO tools" over 30 days, neither engine cited a page of ours, and the two engines read different lists. ChatGPT leaned on roundup and ranking sites; Perplexity mixed roundups with Product Hunt. That tells the crew where the work is: not another page on our own site for ChatGPT, but a place on the lists it already reads.

### What is a deciding source, and what is it not?

A deciding source is a page or domain ranked by its share of the citations behind one answer, per engine, over a window you choose. It is the closest thing to "what the model read before it answered", and it is still not traffic, authority or a promise. Being on the list gives the crew something to earn; it does not guarantee the next answer names you. Every placement the crew earns is re-read at +7, +14 and +30 days, and a change inside the noise is reported as no change.

## FAQ

### Do I need a client ID or secret?

No. Attensira publishes standard OAuth discovery, so choosing OAuth is enough and there is nothing to fill in.

### Write tools like add_prompts are missing. Is my access wrong?

Probably not. Some ChatGPT surfaces restrict which tools an app may call. Check what you granted under Connections in Attensira before changing anything; a signed-in connection always carries read and write.

### Why can I not turn on Developer mode?

It depends on your ChatGPT plan and, on Business and Enterprise, on what an admin allows. That is decided on the ChatGPT side.

### Can I use an API key instead of signing in?

The documented path for ChatGPT is OAuth. Keys are for headless callers that cannot complete a browser sign-in, such as n8n or a CI job.

### Where do I see and revoke what I granted?

Under Connections in Attensira. Revoking stops the next refresh; an access token ChatGPT already holds stays valid until it expires. For access you can cut off instantly, use an API key and revoke it.

### Does asking ChatGPT about my numbers cost credits?

No. Reading numbers Attensira has already collected is free. Credits are spent by ask and run_automation, which start agent work, and by add_prompts, which adds prompts to track.

## Sources

Each entry below is one claim on this page. `retrieved` is the date the exporter or a human last saw the source say this, and nothing more: it is not a publication date and not a promise of re-verification. `cite` is the anchor on the canonical page where this claim is rendered.

### chatgpt-plan-dependent

Attensira's connect documentation states that ChatGPT developer mode depends on the plan and, on Business and Enterprise, on what an admin allows, and that some surfaces restrict which tools a connector may call.

### chatgpt-oauth-discovery

Attensira's connect documentation states that Attensira publishes standard OAuth discovery, so there is no client ID or secret for a ChatGPT app to fill in.

### revocation-next-refresh

Attensira's OAuth reference states that revoking a connection stops the next refresh while an access token already in a client's hands stays valid until it expires.
