### What did ChatGPT hear when we asked for Profound alternatives?

A vocabulary question. Asked "Profound alternatives for small businesses" on 4 October 2026, ChatGPT offered loftier synonyms for "small businesses" and cited a thesaurus. The brand name is also an ordinary word, and the engine took the word.

Stored ChatGPT answer to “Profound alternatives for small businesses”, asked 4 Oct 2026 (n=1 answer, attensira.com workspace, Attensira MCP).

> If you’re looking for more profound, elevated, or inspiring alternatives to “small businesses,” here are some options with different tones. (Common alternatives include “small enterprise,” “microenterprise,” and “SME,” but these can sound more technical.)

Named, in order: no brand. Attensira was not named.

## What is Scrunch?

An AI customer experience platform that monitors brand visibility across AI platforms, gives optimisation insights and, through its Agent Experience Platform, generates AI-friendly versions of a site's pages.

## What is Profound?

An AI marketing platform that tracks how brands appear in AI answers and runs an AI Marketer with agents for research, content and reporting, sold to brands as a free trial and a custom-priced Enterprise plan.

## When should you choose Scrunch?

Choose Scrunch for a published price, 350 prompts and seven AI platforms from day one, without a sales call.

## When should you choose Profound?

Choose Profound for AI Marketer agents, up to nine engines and enterprise controls, if a demo and a custom quote suit how you buy.

## Where does Attensira fit?

Whatever it takes to win the answer. Worth a look if you want the work done rather than shown: Attensira's crew writes, fixes pages and earns placements for your approval, and reports each change per engine with its sample size. Plans differ by prompts and included credits, 300 a month on Starter, and you can buy more credits any time.

## What sets Scrunch and Profound apart?

- Scrunch lets you price the purchase before you talk to anyone, at about 86 cents a prompt on Starter month to month ($300 for 350); Profound's brand pricing stops at a free trial and a quote.
- In our stored answers, every one that named Scrunch also named Profound, so engines treat Scrunch as a Profound alternative more than the reverse.
- ChatGPT names both more often than Perplexity does: Scrunch in 9 of 61 latest ChatGPT answers against 3 of 60 on Perplexity.

## What separates Scrunch from Profound?

What each automates, and how each sells. Scrunch publishes its prices: as read from its pricing page on 5 October 2026, Starter is $300 a month, or $250 billed yearly, for 350 prompts, with a 7-day trial and no card. Profound's brand pricing shows a free 7-day trial and then Enterprise at a custom price, quoted after a demo.

What each automates is the more interesting difference. Scrunch calls itself the AI Customer Experience Platform. Beyond monitoring and insights, it offers AXP, its Agent Experience Platform, which serves an AI-friendly version of your site to AI agents; its Starter and Growth plan lists do not include AXP, so ask which plan carries it. That is work on your site, aimed at the agents that read it. Profound calls itself an AI marketing platform. Beyond Answer Engine Insights, it sells AI Marketer: agents that help your team research, write and report. That is work for your people. One works on the reader side of the problem, the other on the writer side, and that sorts most buyers faster than price does.

## What does each one cost?

As both pricing pages read on 5 October 2026. Scrunch's Starter is $300 a month, or $250 a month billed yearly, for 350 custom prompts, 1,000 industry prompts, five page audits, three personas and three user licenses. Growth is $500 a month, or $417 billed yearly, for 700 custom prompts and five licenses. Enterprise is custom. Both self-serve plans read ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, Google AI Mode and AI Overviews, and Meta.

Profound's pricing for brands lists two plans. The Trial is free for 7 days: 50 prompts run daily on ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Overviews, limited AI Marketer credits and unlimited seats. Enterprise is custom, tracks up to nine engines and includes AI Marketer credits for the whole team; there is no dollar amount on the page. Search results and older reviews still quote cheaper self-serve Starter and Growth plans, but neither was on the pricing page on 5 October 2026. Plans change often; write down the date of every quote.

## Can you price either one before a sales call?

Scrunch, yes; Profound, not for a brand. Scrunch's Starter works out at about 86 cents a prompt month to month ($300 for 350) and about 71 cents billed yearly, on seven AI platforms. You can model a year's cost from the page and test it on the trial before anyone signs.

Profound's trial tells you what the product does on 50 of your prompts, but not what it will cost after day seven. The price arrives with the Enterprise quote, so budget a demo and a procurement cycle into the timeline. Decide whether you are buying measurement breadth at a known price or a platform with agents at a negotiated one.

## Which engines does each one read?

Scrunch reads the same seven AI platforms on Starter and Growth: ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, Google AI Mode, Google AI Overviews and Meta. Profound's trial reads three, ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Overviews; Enterprise tracks up to nine, adding Perplexity, Google AI Mode, Microsoft Copilot, DeepSeek, Claude and Exa Search. If Copilot or DeepSeek matter to your buyers, only Profound's Enterprise lists them. If Meta AI matters, Scrunch lists it from Starter.

## What does Profound sell beyond tracking?

Agents. Profound is often filed as an enterprise monitoring tool, but its home page leads with AI Marketer, agents that help a team research, write and report, metered by AI Marketer credits, and names Agents, Agent Analytics, Prompt Volumes, Shopping and a Context Manager among its products. It also lists the controls enterprise procurement asks for: RBAC, SCIM and SOC 2.

The agents help your people rather than replace them. Someone on your team still decides what to publish, edits it and ships it, which is worth testing in the trial rather than taking from a summary.

## Is agent-facing site work worth paying for?

It depends on how AI agents reach your site today. The idea behind a product like AXP is that AI agents and crawlers read a page differently from people: many do not run JavaScript, so content a page only shows after a script runs may be invisible to them, and they read structure rather than layout. A cleaner version of the page for those readers can make it easier to quote.

Before paying for it, look at your own crawler logs. If AI crawlers already fetch your important pages and the pages render their content in plain HTML, the gain may be small. If key content only appears after JavaScript runs, or the pages AI crawlers fetch are not the ones you want quoted, agent-facing work addresses a real problem. Scrunch also monitors agent traffic, which is the right place to start that check.

## Who is each one for?

Scrunch is for a team that wants seven AI platforms and 350 prompts at a known price from day one, and can grow into Growth or Enterprise. The 7-day trial, without a card, means you can test it on your own prompts before anyone signs.

Profound suits an organisation that buys through a demo and a contract: one that wants AI Marketer agents for research and content, prompt-volume data, up to nine engines, and RBAC, SCIM and SOC 2 in the contract. A small team can still use the free trial to see the product on its own prompts.

## What happens when you ask an engine about Profound?

Sometimes it hears an adjective. We track "Profound alternatives for small businesses" and "Profound alternative for startups" among the 61 prompts we read daily for our own brand. ChatGPT repeatedly answered both as requests for more elevated words, offering synonyms for "small businesses" and "startups" and citing dictionaries. Perplexity read the same prompts as questions about AI visibility tools. On the startups prompt, all six of ChatGPT's most-cited sources across 12 answers in the 30 days to 4 October 2026 were thesauruses, dictionaries or a textbook site, led by WordHippo with 41 of 306 citations.

That matters to anyone choosing between these two. A brand whose name is an ordinary word competes with the dictionary for the question, and a tracker should show you that failure on your own prompts rather than average it away.

## How often do AI answers name each one?

Profound far more often. Across the 61 prompts we track on ChatGPT and Perplexity, Profound was the most-named rival we track in the 30 days to 4 October 2026, and Scrunch was named in 1.8% of 4,967 competitor answer slots. Several of our prompts name Profound and none name Scrunch, so part of that gap is ours. Even so, Perplexity's answer to small businesses asking for Profound alternatives did not name Scrunch at all, and no Scrunch domain is among the 25 most-cited domains in our tracked answers, where tryprofound.com drew 900 citations.

### Which engine names them more?

ChatGPT, for both. Split by engine, the latest stored answers to our 61 prompts named Profound and Scrunch more often on ChatGPT than on Perplexity, and Profound nearly twice as often as Scrunch on ChatGPT.

## What does neither one do for you?

The doing. Scrunch's AXP produces agent-facing versions of your pages and its insights recommend changes; Profound's agents help your team draft and research. Going by what each publishes, neither describes writing and shipping the changes to your human-facing pages for you, or earning placements on the third-party pages that answers lean on, such as review sites, roundups and comparison posts.

## What should you ask in procurement?

For Profound: what the Enterprise quote includes in prompts, engines and AI Marketer credits, and what happens when credits run out. For Scrunch: whether Growth's 700 prompts or Enterprise fits your prompt count, which plan carries AXP, what AXP changes on your site, how it is deployed and how it is reverted. For both: how each tool shows the sample size behind a number, and how it separates a real change from noise.

## How should an agency compare them?

On the cost and effort of each client. Scrunch's pricing page points agencies to a separate agency page rather than listing an agency price. Profound's pricing page mentions a self-serve Agency Growth plan with 400 AI Marketer credits a month per client workspace, also without a price. Ask each how client workspaces are separated, what clients can see, whether reports can carry your brand, and what one more client costs at your size. For most agencies those answers decide the margin more than the headline price does.

## What should you watch after you choose?

Whether the tool changes anything a buyer sees. With Scrunch, check that AXP's versions of your pages are being fetched by the AI crawlers you care about, and whether the pages they fetch start appearing as citations. With Profound, count the pieces of work its agents helped produce that actually shipped, not the drafts. In both cases, compare the prompts you worked on with those you left alone, over weeks rather than days, and look at the sample size behind any rise before you credit the tool with it.

## How should you evaluate them?

Run Scrunch's Starter trial and Profound's free trial in the same week with the same 40 to 60 prompts; Profound's trial caps you at 50. Compare where they agree about your visibility, how each shows the sample size behind a rate, and what each would have you do next. Then ask the question that decides most of these purchases: who on your team will turn the findings into changes, and how many hours a week do they have?
