### How did ChatGPT describe Promptwatch?

Asked "Peec AI alternatives" on 3 October 2026, ChatGPT ranked Promptwatch first, as the closest Peec replacement, and explained why in the lines below. One stored answer, quoted as it came; the "content/actions" it credits match Promptwatch's content agents.

Stored ChatGPT answer to “Peec AI alternatives”, asked 3 Oct 2026 (n=1 answer, attensira.com workspace, Attensira MCP).

> Probably the first one I'd test if you're happy with Peec's basic concept but want more engines and execution capabilities. Its current positioning is particularly strong around turning visibility data into content/actions.

Named, in order: Peec. Attensira was not named.

## What is Promptwatch?

An AI search visibility platform that tracks citations, monitors AI crawlers and runs content agents that write articles based on which sources AI engines cite.

## What is AthenaHQ?

An answer engine and generative engine optimisation platform sold on credits, one credit per AI response, with an Athena AI agent, a content optimisation agent and on-page and off-page actions.

## When should you choose Promptwatch?

Choose Promptwatch for depth on four engines and drafted articles.

## When should you choose AthenaHQ?

Choose AthenaHQ for eleven engines, a free start and prescribed actions.

## Where does Attensira fit?

Whatever it takes to win the answer. Worth a look if you want the work done rather than shown: Attensira's crew writes, fixes pages and earns placements for your approval, and reports each change per engine with its sample size. Plans differ by prompts and included credits, 300 a month on Starter, and you can buy more credits any time.

## What sets Promptwatch and AthenaHQ apart?

- Per AI response, Promptwatch Essential costs about 1.6 cents and AthenaHQ Starter about 8.2 cents, roughly five times as much.
- AthenaHQ's free tier holds 300 credits: forty prompts on three engines would use it up in under three days.
- ChatGPT ranked Promptwatch first among Peec AI alternatives on 3 October 2026, while AthenaHQ is named in 2.0% of our competitor answer slots.

## What is the difference between Promptwatch and AthenaHQ?

Depth or breadth, and drafts or prescriptions. Promptwatch tracks four models per plan and includes more AI responses per dollar, and its content agents write articles from the sources AI engines cite. AthenaHQ reads eleven models on its entry plan, meters everything in credits, one per AI response, and prescribes on-page and off-page actions with a content optimisation agent alongside.

Both publish their prices and both count AI responses, which makes this one of the few pairs in the category you can compare on the same unit. That is worth doing before anything else, because the headline prices point the wrong way.

## How do they price?

As both pricing pages read on 4 October 2026: Promptwatch's Essential is $95 a month for 50 prompts, 6,000 responses, four models, one seat and 500 agent credits. Professional is $245 for 150 prompts and 18,000 responses with five AEO articles a month, and Business $579 for 350 prompts and 42,000 responses with ten. A 7-day free trial covers Essential and Professional.

AthenaHQ's Essential tier is free, with $25 of credit (300 credits), five engines and unlimited members. Starter is $295 a month for 3,600 credits across eleven models, with 17% off for annual billing. API access is a paid add-on, and Enterprise is custom, adding the Athena Citation Engine, a knowledge base, SSO and audit logs.

## What does a response cost on each?

Divide price by responses. Promptwatch's Essential works out at about 1.6 cents an AI response and its upper plans at about 1.4. AthenaHQ's Starter is about 8.2 cents. So at entry, Promptwatch reads roughly five times as many answers per dollar.

AthenaHQ's case is breadth. Those 3,600 responses can be spread over eleven models, and its free tier lets you test the product before paying anything. If you need Grok, Meta AI or Mistral in the same view as ChatGPT, Promptwatch's four slots will not stretch that far.

The arithmetic also shows a hidden choice. Responses spent on more engines are responses not spent on more samples of the same prompt, and a rate read from one answer a day is noisy. Decide how many engines you need before you decide how many responses to buy. As a worked example, 50 prompts read once a day on four engines is 6,000 responses a month: exactly Promptwatch's Essential allowance, and well over AthenaHQ's Starter, which would cover the same set on about two engines.

### What does a dollar buy in AI responses?

Divide each entry plan's price by the AI responses it includes. Promptwatch's plans cost under two cents a response; AthenaHQ's Starter about eight, across nearly three times as many models. Prices as both pricing pages read on 4 October 2026.

## Which engines does each one cover?

AthenaHQ's Starter lists ChatGPT, Perplexity, AI Overviews, AI Mode, Gemini, Claude, Copilot, Grok, DeepSeek, Meta AI and Mistral, with more on request; its free tier covers five. Promptwatch's pricing page says each plan tracks four models and lists ChatGPT, Perplexity, AI Overviews, AI Mode, Claude, Gemini, Llama, DeepSeek and Grok among those it supports.

Find out which assistants your buyers actually use before choosing on coverage. Ask a handful of recent customers, and check your analytics for referrals from chatgpt.com and perplexity.ai. Four well-chosen engines read deeply can tell you more than eleven read thinly.

## Which is easier to start with?

AthenaHQ, if you mean without paying. Its Essential tier is free with $25 of credit and unlimited members, so a team can load its prompts and look around with no card and no sales call. The catch is size: 300 credits is enough to see the product, not to measure a category. Forty prompts on three engines would use them up in under three days.

Promptwatch starts with a 7-day trial on Essential or Professional. Seven days on a real prompt set is a fairer test of whether the numbers settle, and it includes the content agents, so you can judge a drafted article as well as a dashboard.

## What does each one do beyond tracking?

Promptwatch drafts. Its content agents analyse which sources AI cites and write articles meant to be referenced more often in AI responses, metered by agent credits, with five articles a month on Professional and ten on Business. Someone still edits and publishes them, and decides whether a new article is the right fix at all.

AthenaHQ prescribes. Its on-page actions point at changes to your site and its off-page actions at the third-party sources answers cite; its content optimisation agent helps rework pages, and the Athena AI Agent answers questions about your positioning and content gaps from your account data. A person still makes each change.

## Which one watches AI crawlers?

Promptwatch, on every plan. Its pricing page lists crawler logs with allowances of 1.5K on Essential, 25M on Professional and 100M on Business, and agent analytics from Professional. AthenaHQ's pricing page, as read on 4 October 2026, did not list AI crawler monitoring.

Crawler logs answer a different question from answer tracking: not whether an engine names you, but whether its crawlers can reach and read the pages you want cited. On our own site, this page was fetched 29 times by AI crawlers in the 30 days to 4 October 2026, so comparison pages like it are part of what engines read about a category.

## How visible is each one in AI answers?

Less than the category leaders. Across the 61 prompts we track for our own brand on ChatGPT and Perplexity, Promptwatch was named in 4.4% of 4,967 competitor answer slots in the 30 days to 4 October 2026 and AthenaHQ in 2.0%, well behind names such as Profound and Peec AI.

Where they do appear, they appear with a role. ChatGPT ranked Promptwatch first among Peec AI alternatives on 3 October and cited promptwatch.com 80 times on that prompt over 30 days. On "AthenaHQ alternatives", ChatGPT's top source was AthenaHQ's own answers site. On that same question ChatGPT named Promptwatch in 29 of its 33 answers, often as the closest replacement; Perplexity named it in none of 33.

## How reliable are AI answers about these two?

Patchy, which is a reason to read the vendors' pages rather than the summaries. ChatGPT's answers on our prompts described both products in a line or two, generally fairly. Perplexity's sample for "AthenaHQ alternatives" on 4 October 2026 listed a handful of names and then broke off into a fragment of its own instructions, the kind of junk that a tracking tool counts as an answer unless someone reads it.

That is a useful test for any tool in this category, these two included. Open a few raw answers behind a rate and check that they are real answers to the question. A mention rate built partly on garbled samples is not a number you can act on.

## Who should pick which?

Pick Promptwatch when depth on a few engines matters more than breadth, you want articles drafted from citation data and someone to edit them, and you want crawler logs and API access in the same tool. Essential at $95 is the cheaper paid start.

Pick AthenaHQ when you need many engines in one view, want to try the product free before paying, and want the tool to prescribe on-page and off-page actions that your team will carry out.

## Which one suits an agency?

Promptwatch counts seats: one on Essential, two on Professional and five on Business. An agency pays for staff access by plan, and each client brand's prompts come out of the same prompt and response allowance, so a third client can push you up a tier. AthenaHQ's credits are shared across whatever you track, so an agency budgets responses per client, and its unlimited members on the free tier make it easy to show a client the product. Ask both how client workspaces are separated, whether reports can carry your brand, and how billing works when you add or drop a client in the middle of a month. The answers matter more to an agency's margin than the entry price does.

## What does neither one do?

Neither ships the change. Promptwatch drafts articles and AthenaHQ prescribes actions, but a person still publishes, fixes the pages and earns the third-party placements that answers lean on. If nobody on your team owns that work each week, either subscription becomes a report. That is the edge of what this kind of product is rather than a flaw in either: tools that measure and advise leave the doing to you, and the doing is where visibility in AI answers is won or lost.

## What should you ask before you buy?

For Promptwatch: which four models you would choose, how agent credits are spent across articles and chat, and what seats cost beyond the plan's allowance. For AthenaHQ: how many credits your real prompt set burns at your engine count and sampling depth, what happens when credits run out mid-month, and what API access costs. For both: whether each rate shows its sample size, and how each separates a real change from noise.

## How should you trial them?

Write the 30 to 60 prompts you would really track. Run them for a week in Promptwatch's trial and AthenaHQ's free tier on the engines that matter to you. Compare where the two agree about your visibility, which outputs you would act on, and what the plan you would really need costs once your prompt count, engines and samples are priced in.
