## What is Peec AI?

AI search analytics for marketing teams, reporting a brand's visibility, position and sentiment across AI engines and recommending actions, with plans for brands and agencies.

## What is AthenaHQ?

An answer engine and generative engine optimisation platform sold on credits, one credit per AI response, with an Athena AI agent, a content optimisation agent and on-page and off-page actions.

## When should you choose Peec AI?

Choose Peec AI for clear reporting and recommendations in a product simple to adopt.

## When should you choose AthenaHQ?

Choose AthenaHQ for a free start, many engines and prescribed actions.

## Where does Attensira fit?

Whatever it takes to win the answer. Worth a look if you want the work done rather than shown: Attensira's crew writes, fixes pages and earns placements for your approval, and reports each change per engine with its sample size. Plans differ by prompts and included credits, 300 a month on Starter, and you can buy more credits any time.

## What sets Peec AI and AthenaHQ apart?

- Peec's $95 Starter costs a third of AthenaHQ's $295 Starter, but buys prompts on three engines rather than 3,600 responses on eleven.
- Each vendor was ChatGPT's top source on its own "alternatives" prompt, so the engines largely repeat what the vendors say about themselves.
- On Perplexity, the top sources for both "alternatives" prompts were pages written by other vendors, Writesonic and AirOps.

## What is the difference between Peec AI and AthenaHQ?

How each one charges, and how far each goes towards the work. Peec AI describes itself as AI search analytics for marketing teams. It reports visibility, position and sentiment across the engines it reads, and recommends what to do under an Act on Insights heading. Its plans are tiers aimed at roles and team sizes, from SEO and content managers to multi-project marketing teams.

AthenaHQ describes itself as a command center for answer engine and generative engine optimization, under the tagline "See, Act, and Win on AI Search and Beyond". It meters usage in credits, one credit per AI response, and its Starter plan lists on-page and off-page actions, a content optimisation agent and an Athena AI Agent that answers plain-language questions about your positioning and content gaps.

So the question is less which tracks better and more which shape of product fits your team: a reporting tool that tells you where you stand, or a credit-metered platform that also prescribes the next move.

## How do they price?

AthenaHQ publishes everything, as its pricing page read on 4 October 2026. Essential is free, with $25 of credit (300 credits), five engines and unlimited members. Starter is $295 a month for 3,600 credits across eleven models, with 17% off for annual billing; API access is a paid add-on. Enterprise is custom and adds the Athena Citation Engine, a knowledge base, SSO and audit logs.

Peec AI's pricing page, as indexed on 4 October 2026, lists Starter at $95 a month for 50 prompts, Pro at $245 for 150 and Advanced at $495 for 350, each tracking three models of your choice with unlimited users; Enterprise is through sales. So Peec's entry plan is a third of AthenaHQ's Starter, and buys prompts on three engines rather than responses on eleven. Write down the date of any quote, because pricing pages in this category change between one month and the next.

## What does an AthenaHQ credit buy?

One AI response. Starter's 3,600 credits a month buy 3,600 answers, which is, for example, 40 prompts read on three engines every day for 30 days. Add engines, prompts or repeat samples and the credits run out sooner: the same 40 prompts on all eleven models every day would need about 13,200 a month.

That makes AthenaHQ unusually easy to cost, and it puts the trade-off in plain sight. Breadth of engines and depth of sampling compete for the same budget. Decide which engines your buyers use before you decide how many to read.

## Which engines does each one cover?

AthenaHQ's Starter lists eleven models: ChatGPT, Perplexity, AI Overviews, AI Mode, Gemini, Claude, Copilot, Grok, DeepSeek, Meta AI and Mistral, with more on request. Its free tier covers five of them. Peec AI's plans each track three models of your choice, and its home page names ChatGPT, Perplexity and Gemini among them; more models cost extra, so ask the price before you sign.

More engines is not automatically better. Find out which assistants your buyers use: ask a handful of recent customers, and check your analytics for referrals from chatgpt.com and perplexity.ai. If ChatGPT and Google's AI features dominate, a narrow tool reading them deeply beats a wide one reading eleven engines once a day. If your buyers are developers who live in Claude, make sure Claude is on the plan you are quoted.

## What does each one do beyond tracking?

Peec AI recommends. Its Act on Insights capability turns the data into strategy suggestions, and a marketer decides what to do with them.

AthenaHQ goes a step further on paper. Its actions are prescriptive, split into on-page changes to your site and off-page work on the sources that answers cite, and its content optimisation agent helps rework pages. The Athena AI Agent is a copilot over your account data rather than a worker: it answers questions about competitive positioning and content gaps. In both products, the change itself is still made by a person on your team.

## How visible is each one in AI answers?

Largely on their own evidence. We track "Peec AI alternatives" and "AthenaHQ alternatives" among the 61 prompts we read daily for our own brand. In the 30 days to 4 October 2026, Peec AI was named in 104 of 105 answers to its prompt and AthenaHQ in all 66 answers to its own, which says more about the prompts than the market.

The engines still pair them. ChatGPT's answer to "AthenaHQ alternatives" on 4 October 2026 named Profound or Peec AI as the closest replacement. And both vendors are heavily cited on their own names: across all the prompts we track, peec.ai is the fifth most-cited domain, and its single most-cited page is an instructions page written for AI engines.

## Who writes the pages the engines read?

Often a competitor. On Perplexity, the most-cited sources for both "alternatives" prompts were posts by other vendors in the category, which is normal in this market and worth knowing as a buyer. An answer that lists alternatives to a tool is frequently a summary of rival marketing.

It also explains some odd answers. A list written by a rival tends to describe the rival's strengths in detail and everyone else in a line, and an engine that summarises several such lists inherits their emphasis. Any price in them is only as current as the post.

The practical step is to read the vendors' own pages for facts, the engines' answers for the map, and to treat any price quoted in an answer as a lead to check, not a number to budget on.

### Who writes the alternatives pages Perplexity reads?

Mostly other vendors. Perplexity's top source for "Peec AI alternatives" was Writesonic's site, and for "AthenaHQ alternatives" AirOps's. Both sell competing products, so their lists are advocacy that the engine repeats. Attensira was named in none of the 105 answers to "Peec AI alternatives".

## Who should pick which?

Pick Peec AI when you want clean reporting on visibility, position and sentiment for a marketing team or a set of client brands, with recommendations, and a product your team can adopt in a day. It suits agencies adding clients one project at a time.

Pick AthenaHQ when you want to see the price before talking to anyone, need coverage beyond the big three engines, and want the tool to prescribe on-page and off-page actions. Its free tier lets you test that on your own prompts.

## Which one suits an agency?

Both court agencies, in different ways. Peec AI has a dedicated agency page and a partnership option, and its tiers are described in projects and team size, which maps neatly onto adding clients one at a time. Reporting is its centre of gravity, and a client-facing report is most of what an agency sells.

AthenaHQ's credits are shared across whatever you track, so an agency has to budget responses per client: a client with 40 prompts on three engines uses most of a Starter plan by itself. Its prescribed actions are useful if the agency does the delivery work, less so if it only reports. Ask each vendor how client workspaces are separated, whether reports can carry your brand, and how billing works when you add or drop a client mid-month.

## What does neither one do?

Going by both vendors' pages as read on 4 October 2026, neither ships the change. Peec AI recommends and AthenaHQ prescribes, but a person on your side still writes the page, edits the site, pitches the third-party source and follows up. If nobody on your team has that time each week, the subscription becomes a report.

That is the edge of what this kind of product is, not a flaw in either. Much of what decides an AI answer sits on third-party pages, such as the rival-written lists above, review sites and comparison posts, and getting your brand onto them is outreach work that no dashboard does for you.

## What should you ask before you buy?

For Peec AI: what extra models cost, how projects and countries are counted, and the trial terms. For AthenaHQ: how many credits your real prompt set burns at the engine count and sampling depth you want, what happens when credits run out mid-month, and what API access costs. For both: how each tool shows the sample size behind a rate, how it separates a real change from noise, and whether you can open the full answer text behind any number.

A small team should add one more question: who on our side will act on this every week? A team of one or two marketers will not use most of either product's output if nobody owns the follow-through. If the honest answer is nobody, spend the budget on capacity first, whether a person, an agency or software that does the work.

## How should you trial them?

Write the 30 to 60 prompts you would really track, and run them in both for the same week: AthenaHQ on its free tier, Peec AI on its trial. Then compare where they agree about your visibility, whether each shows the sample size behind a rate, how quickly a finding becomes a change on your site, and what the plan you would actually need costs, at the engine count and sampling depth you chose.

## FAQ

### How much do Peec AI and AthenaHQ cost?

Both publish prices. As indexed from peec.ai/pricing on 4 October 2026, Peec AI's Starter is $95 a month for 50 prompts, Pro $245 for 150 and Advanced $495 for 350. AthenaHQ's Essential is free with $25 of credit, Starter is $295 a month for 3,600 credits, and both have a custom Enterprise tier.

### What is an AthenaHQ credit?

AthenaHQ says one credit is one AI response. Starter's 3,600 credits a month therefore buy 3,600 answers: for example 40 prompts read on three engines every day for 30 days. Tracking more prompts, more engines or more often spends credits faster.

### Which one covers more AI engines?

AthenaHQ's Starter lists eleven: ChatGPT, Perplexity, AI Overviews, AI Mode, Gemini, Claude, Copilot, Grok, DeepSeek, Meta AI and Mistral, with more on request; its free tier covers five. Peec AI's plans each track three models of your choice, and its home page names ChatGPT, Perplexity and Gemini among them.

### Does either one act on what it finds?

AthenaHQ lists on-page and off-page actions, a content optimisation agent and an Athena AI agent that answers questions about your data. Peec AI describes an Act on Insights capability with strategy recommendations. In both cases your team carries out the change.

### Is there a free way to try each?

AthenaHQ's Essential tier is free with $25 of credit and unlimited members. Peec AI's home page offers a free trial without stated terms. Neither page, as read on 4 October 2026, required a sales call to start.

### Do AI engines treat them as alternatives?

Yes. ChatGPT's 4 October 2026 answer to "AthenaHQ alternatives" named Profound or Peec AI as the closest replacement. On each vendor's own "alternatives" prompt we track, the vendor dominates: Peec AI was named in 104 of 105 answers to "Peec AI alternatives" and AthenaHQ in all 66 answers to "AthenaHQ alternatives".
