**In short:** Otterly.AI is the cheaper way in: $29 a month for 15 prompts on four engines, with Claude, Gemini and AI Mode as paid add-ons. Promptwatch starts at $95 for 50 prompts and adds content agents that write articles from citation data. Per tracked prompt, the two entry plans cost almost the same.

## Verdict

Two entry-level ways into AI visibility that are closer on price than they look and further apart on what they do. Otterly.AI is cheap and covers four engines, with more as add-ons. Promptwatch costs more at the bottom and adds content agents that write articles.

Stored ChatGPT answer to “Otterly AI vs Peec AI”, asked 3 Oct 2026 (n=1 answer, attensira.com workspace, Attensira MCP).

> For most people starting GEO today, I'd choose Otterly. Its price-to-coverage ratio is hard to beat, and its GEO audit makes it more actionable rather than merely telling you that your visibility changed. Otterly currently says it can analyze mentions, share of voice, sentiment and cited URLs across seven AI engines, although some engines are paid add-ons depending on the plan.

Named, in order: Otterly. Attensira was not named.

## What is Otterly.AI?

An AI search monitoring tool that tracks brand mentions and website citations across ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity and Copilot, with GEO audits, recommendations and paid add-ons for other engines.

## What is Promptwatch?

An AI search visibility platform that tracks citations, monitors AI crawlers and runs content agents that write articles based on which sources AI engines cite.

## When should you choose Otterly.AI?

Choose Otterly.AI for the lowest-cost way to watch a short prompt list on four engines, with audits and recommendations.

## When should you choose Promptwatch?

Choose Promptwatch when you want the tool to draft content as well as track it.

## Where does Attensira fit?

Whatever it takes to win the answer. Worth a look if you want the work done rather than shown: Attensira's crew writes, fixes pages and earns placements for your approval, and reports each change per engine with its sample size. Plans differ by prompts and included credits, 300 a month on Starter, and you can buy more credits any time.

## What sets Otterly.AI and Promptwatch apart?

- At entry the two cost almost the same per tracked prompt, about $1.93 and $1.90, so the real choice is how many prompts you need.
- Otterly's own domain is the fourth most-cited of any in our tracked answers (2,178 of 100,380 citations); promptwatch.com is not in the top 25.
- Perplexity confuses Otterly with Otter.ai: 49 of 305 citations in its answers to "Otterly AI alternatives" went to meeting-note vendors.

## What is the difference between Otterly.AI and Promptwatch?

What each one does after it has told you where you stand. Both track how AI engines answer a set of prompts and whether your brand is named or your site cited. Otterly.AI describes its platform as monitoring, generative engine optimization audits and recommendations. Promptwatch adds content agents that, in its words, analyse which sources AI cites and create articles optimised to be referenced more often. One tells you what to do. The other also drafts some of it.

The second difference is coverage. Otterly.AI includes four engines on every plan and sells the rest as add-ons. Promptwatch's plans each track four models chosen from a longer list. If the engine your buyers use most is Claude or Gemini, check what each plan includes before you compare prices.

## How do the prices compare?

At the bottom of the ladder, as both pricing pages read on 4 October 2026: Otterly.AI's Lite is $29 a month for 15 prompts. Promptwatch's Essential is $95 a month for 50 prompts and 6,000 responses. Per prompt, the two entry plans are almost identical, about $1.93 and $1.90. The headline gap is how many prompts you buy, not what each one costs.

Further up, Otterly.AI's Standard is $189 for 100 prompts and Premium $489 for 400; Enterprise is custom from 1,000. Promptwatch's Professional is $245 for 150 prompts with five AEO articles a month, and Business $579 for 350 prompts with ten. Both pages change often, so treat every figure here as dated, and price the plan you would really need, add-ons and seats included.

## How many prompts do you actually need?

More than 15 for most companies, fewer than 400 for most small ones. A useful prompt set covers the questions buyers ask at each stage: category questions ("best tools for X"), comparison questions ("X vs Y"), problem questions ("why am I not showing up in ChatGPT") and a few branded ones. For one product in one market, 40 to 60 well-chosen prompts is a reasonable start. We track 61 for our own brand.

That puts many teams between the two entry plans. Otterly.AI's Lite covers a pilot and Standard covers a real set; Promptwatch's Essential covers a real set from the start. Run the arithmetic on the prompts you would keep after a month, not on the cheapest plan.

## Which engines does each one track?

Otterly.AI includes ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity and Microsoft Copilot on every plan. Google AI Mode, Gemini and Claude are monthly add-ons whose price rises with the plan. Promptwatch's pricing page says each plan tracks four models and lists ChatGPT, Perplexity, AI Overviews, AI Mode, Claude, Gemini, Llama, DeepSeek and Grok among those it supports.

So the comparison flips with your engine mix. If ChatGPT and AI Overviews are what matter, Otterly.AI's base plan covers them. If you need Claude and Gemini together, Otterly.AI adds two add-ons while Promptwatch spends two of its four slots.

## What does each one do with what it finds?

Otterly.AI audits and recommends. Its GEO audit reads your site and its recommendations say what to change. Changing it is your job.

Promptwatch audits, recommends and drafts. Its content agents produce articles from citation data, metered by agent credits, and Professional includes five a month. Someone on your side still edits, publishes and decides whether an article is the right fix for a given prompt. Often it is not: the better fix is a change to an existing page or a placement on a third-party page that answers already cite.

Both also watch AI crawlers. Promptwatch lists crawler logs on every plan, with agent analytics from Professional. Otterly.AI lists Agent Analytics, API and MCP access from Standard up.

If the bottleneck in your team is knowing what to do, either tool helps. If it is doing it, a drafted article is a partial answer and a list of recommendations is not an answer at all.

## How does ChatGPT sort the two?

Much as the vendors sort themselves. Asked "Otterly AI alternatives" on 4 October 2026, ChatGPT put Otterly as the cheap, simple option, sent agencies to Peec AI and enterprises to Profound or Scrunch AI, and described Promptwatch as the pick for teams that want "recommendations and content actions". That matches Promptwatch's own content-agent pitch and Otterly's audit-and-recommend one.

The answer's sources say why. Among the eight domains it cited in its text were otterly.ai and promptwatch.com, and the Promptwatch page it drew on was Promptwatch's own post on Otterly alternatives. Most of the rest were sites run by other tools in the category, such as Geoptie, Dageno and Vismore. An engine's summary of a vendor pair is assembled largely from what the vendors and their rivals write about each other, which is why vendors in this category publish so many comparison pages, and why you should read them as advocacy.

## What do AI answers get wrong about Otterly.AI?

Its name. We track "Otterly AI alternatives" as one of the 61 prompts we read daily for our own brand, and Otter.ai, a meeting transcription app, keeps getting in the way. ChatGPT handles it openly: its 4 October answer closed by noting that alternatives to Otter.ai "are a different list". Perplexity does not flag it. Over 30 days, three meeting-note vendors were among its most-cited sources for the prompt.

That is the kind of failure a tracking tool should surface on your own prompts, because it costs a brand recommendations without anyone noticing. It also shows how much the engines lean on vendors' own pages: otterly.ai is the fourth most-cited domain across all our tracked answers, with 2,178 of 100,380 citations, while promptwatch.com is outside the top 25.

### Which sources decided answers to "Otterly AI alternatives"?

Over 30 days, ChatGPT leaned on Otterly's own site. Perplexity's top sources included three meeting-note vendors, because "Otterly" retrieves pages about Otter.ai, a transcription app. Neither engine named or cited Attensira for this prompt.

## What does neither of them do?

Going by what each pricing page lists as of 4 October 2026, two things. Neither lists shipping changes to your site; the closest is Promptwatch's drafted articles, which a person still has to edit and publish. And neither lists earning placements on the third-party pages that AI answers lean on, such as roundups, review sites and comparison posts written by other vendors.

That matters because those pages decide much of what an engine says. In our own tracked answers, the most-cited domains are OpenAI's and Google's documentation, vendor sites such as Semrush's and Otterly's, and review sites such as G2. A brand missing from the third-party pages in that mix is hard to fix from its own site alone, and both tools leave that work to you.

None of this is a failing of either product. It is the edge of what a tracking tool is. A team that needs the work done, rather than shown, needs a different kind of product or a person.

## Who should pick which?

Pick Otterly.AI when budget is tight, the engines that matter are the four it includes, and you want audits and recommendations rather than drafts. Its trial is seven days with no card, which makes it easy to run on your own prompts first.

Pick Promptwatch when you want content production in the same tool and have someone to edit what it drafts. MCP and API access on every listed plan suits teams that pull numbers into their own reporting or assistant. Its seats are counted from one on Essential, so a larger team pays for access.

### Whose pages decide a head-to-head answer about Otterly?

For "Otterly AI vs Peec AI", ChatGPT drew mostly on the two vendors' own sites, Peec's more than Otterly's. Perplexity's sources were third-party comparison posts instead. Same prompt, same 30 days, different evidence.

## Which engines should decide the choice?

The ones your buyers use, which you can find out rather than assume. Ask a handful of recent customers which assistant they used while choosing you, and check your analytics for referrals from chatgpt.com and perplexity.ai. If ChatGPT dominates, both tools cover it on every plan. If your buyers are developers who live in Claude, Otterly.AI needs its Claude add-on and Promptwatch needs Claude to be one of your four models. If Google's AI features matter most, Otterly.AI includes AI Overviews and sells AI Mode as an add-on.

The engines also disagree with each other. For "Otterly AI alternatives" over the 30 days to 4 October 2026, ChatGPT's six most-cited sources and Perplexity's six did not overlap at all, so a tool that reads only one engine gives you half the picture.

## What should you check during the trial?

Write the 40 to 60 prompts you would really track; a pilot of 15 tells you little about a category. Run them in both tools for the full seven days on the engines that matter to you, adding Otterly's add-ons if Claude or Gemini are among them.

Then ask four questions on your own data. How does the tool count a mention: by name, by link, or both? How many times does it ask each prompt each day, and does it show the sample size next to every rate? Can you open the full answer behind a number? And when it recommends a change, who on your team will make it?

The last question decides whether the subscription pays off. A tracker whose recommendations nobody has time to act on is a reporting cost, not a visibility gain.

## FAQ

### Which is cheaper, Otterly.AI or Promptwatch?

Otterly.AI at the bottom of the ladder: Lite is $29 a month against Promptwatch's Essential at $95, as both pricing pages read on 4 October 2026. Per tracked prompt the entry plans are close, about $1.93 for Otterly's 15 and about $1.90 for Promptwatch's 50, so the real difference is how many prompts you need.

### Which AI engines does each one track?

Otterly.AI includes ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity and Microsoft Copilot on every plan, and sells Google AI Mode, Gemini and Claude as add-ons priced by plan. Promptwatch's plans each track four models, chosen from a supported list that includes ChatGPT, Perplexity, AI Overviews, AI Mode, Claude, Gemini, Llama, DeepSeek and Grok.

### Does either one write content?

Promptwatch does. Its content agents analyse which sources AI engines cite and write articles meant to be referenced more often; Professional includes five AEO articles a month and Business ten. Otterly.AI runs GEO audits and gives recommendations, and its pricing page lists no article writing.

### Do they have free trials?

Yes. Otterly.AI says it gives new users a 7-day free trial with no credit card required. Promptwatch's pricing page offers a 7-day free trial on its Essential and Professional plans. Both were read on 4 October 2026.

### Which one has API or MCP access?

Both, on different plans. Otterly.AI lists API and MCP access, with Agent Analytics, from its Standard plan up. Promptwatch lists MCP and API access on its Essential, Professional and Business plans, so it is available from the cheapest one.

### Why do some AI answers about Otterly mention meeting-note apps?

Because "Otterly" is close to Otter.ai, a meeting transcription app. Over the 30 days to 4 October 2026, 49 of the 305 citations in Perplexity's answers to our tracked prompt "Otterly AI alternatives" went to notta.ai, meetjamie.ai and fellow.ai, which sell meeting-note tools. ChatGPT flagged the ambiguity in its answer instead.
